Submission Guidelines

  1. Submissions must align with the thematic areas of public international law, private international law, human rights law, humanitarian law, and foreign policy.

  2. A wide range of topics within these domains are welcome, including but not limited to treaty law, international dispute settlement, international organizations, and transnational legal developments.

  3. Submissions should typically be between 3,000 and 3,500 words. Exceptions may be allowed on a case-by-case basis.

  4. Co-authored submissions are permitted, with a maximum of two authors.

  5. Articles must be well-researched and based on credible, authoritative sources. Submissions should reflect clarity of thought and be accessible to a broad legal readership.

  6. All submissions must be original and unpublished. Articles under consideration elsewhere will not be accepted. Plagiarism in any form will result in disqualification.

  7. Facts, legal authorities, and other references must be duly cited. Use OSCOLA (4th Edition) for citations. Use of hyperlinks is strictly prohibited. 

  8. Upon submission, the Editorial Board will acknowledge receipt via email. The editorial process involves a thorough review, and authors will be informed of the final decision upon its conclusion.

  9. Please allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks for the completion of the editorial review. Authors will be notified of the status of their submission accordingly.

  10. Submissions will be assessed on relevance, originality, quality of analysis, and alignment with international legal discourse. Preference will be given to topical and well-contextualized pieces.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Garamond; Size: 12 pt; Line spacing: 1.5 (main body).

  • Alignment: Justified.

  • Footnotes (if used): Garamond, Size: 10 pt, Line spacing: 1.0, justified.

  • No speaking footnotes permitted.

  • Use British English throughout (e.g., 'organisation' not 'organization').

Quotes:

  • Use double quotation marks (“…”) for direct quotes.

  • Quotes exceeding 50 words should appear in a separate paragraph with smaller font size and indented margins.

In Italics:

  • Judgments & Latin phrases

  • Use italics for emphasis only—avoid bold or underline.

Submission Process

Submissions should be sent to cpil@gnlu.ac.in in an editable MS Word document (.doc or .docx format). The subject line of the email should be: 'Submission – GNLU-CPIL Magazine [Title of Your Article]'.
Queries regarding submission topics or clarifications may be sent to the same email address.

Copyright Policy

By submitting to the GNLU-CPIL Magazine, the author(s) grant non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to the Magazine for the purposes of publication and promotion. Due authorship credit shall be maintained at all times. Submissions may be published online or in print editions, and authors will be informed in advance.
