Submission Guidelines

  1. Submissions must fall within the areas of public international law, private international law, human rights law, humanitarian law, or foreign policy. A wide range of topics is welcome, including treaty law, international dispute settlement, international organisations, and transnational legal developments.

  2. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  3. The recommended word limit is 1,500 words. Submissions exceeding 2,000 words may be returned for revision.

  4. Articles must be well-researched and based on credible, authoritative sources. Submissions should reflect clarity of thought and be accessible to a broad legal readership.

  5. Co-authorship is permitted, with a maximum of two authors.

  6. Use hyperlinks for referencing online materials (articles, reports, etc.). In exceptional cases where hyperlinks cannot be used, OSCOLA (4th edition) style footnotes are permitted. Do not use both hyperlinks and footnotes for the same reference.

  7. Speaking footnotes are not allowed.

  8. Images, charts, or diagrams must be submitted separately, with appropriate copyright permissions.

  9. Use of AI in writing the article is strictly prohibited. 

  10. Along with the manuscript, submit a short author bio (10–20 words) and institutional affiliation.

  11. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.

  12. Authors will receive acknowledgment upon submission.

  13. The editorial process may take 2–3 weeks. Authors will be notified of the final decision accordingly.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Garamond; Size: 12 pt; Line spacing: 1.5 (main body).

  • Alignment: Justified.

  • Footnotes (if used): Garamond, Size: 10 pt, Line spacing: 1.0, justified.

  • No speaking footnotes permitted.

  • Use British English throughout (e.g., 'organisation' not 'organization').

Quotes:

  • Use double quotation marks (“…”) for direct quotes.

  • Quotes exceeding 50 words should appear in a separate paragraph with smaller font size and indented margins.

In Italics:

  • Judgments & Latin phrases

  • Use italics for emphasis only—avoid bold or underline.

Submission Process

Submissions should be sent to cpil@gnlu.ac.in in an editable MS Word document (.doc or .docx format). The subject line of the email should be: 'Submission – GNLU-CPIL Blog [Title of Your Article]'.

Copyright Policy

By submitting to the GNLU-CPIL Magazine, the author(s) grant non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to the Magazine for the purposes of publication and promotion. Due authorship credit shall be maintained at all times. Submissions may be published online or in print editions, and authors will be informed in advance.
